America Alone: The end of the world as we know it - By Mark Steyn
Only a politically incorrect non-American like Mark Steyn could have written the book America Alone. He believes that in the end Muslims – even the most moderate if there is such a thing –will always consider Christians to be “infidels”.
The Christian world and culture is under global attack by Muslim terrorists and is fighting for its very life and existence, not to mention fighting for liberty, freedom and democracy. On the other hand, the Muslim world is fighting to destroy Christian civilization and to replace it with Islam. This is Steyn’s message pared down and writ large.
He begins by mentioning that the U.S. military guards at Gitmo have to wear gloves when handling the Koran. How ridiculous. The Koran should be handled the same as the Bible. If you don’t need gloves to handle a copy of the Bible, and you don’t, then you shouldn’t have to wear them when handling the Koran.
One of his main points is that worldwide non-Muslim families are under-reproducing, and Muslim families are over-reproducing. As a result, for example, the population of Russia where 70% of pregnancies end in abortions will drop from 148 million total population in 1992 to below 130 million by 2015. In Russia the current male death rate is 58.9 years. “You can argue about what these trends mean, but surely not that they mean absolutely nothing.”
Here are some of Steyn’s random thoughts in no particular order, “Islam is not only a religion, it is a complete way of life. Islam guides Muslims from birth to the grave … ‘We (Muslims) produce practically nothing on our own, we can do almost nothing for ourselves, we cannot even manage our wealth.’ Yet in Iran they’re working full-speed on nukes that will be able to hit every European city … The central issue is America’s will to prevail … Decapitate us (Europe-United States) and our politicians rush to the nearest mosque to declare that ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ … At the heart of multiculturalism is a lie: that all cultures are equally valid.”
You may not agree with all of Steyn’s conclusions, I don’t, but you cannot in fairness ignore them. It is a side of the argument that is seldom heard. The book, America Alone, is well worth your time. Read it, you’ll find it challenging and a little scary.
