Aborting America

According to John Adams our second President America was founded on, and its culture was established to project, an Anglo-Protestant philosophy. Our citizens expected to be guided and governed by a government which was based upon Christian principles. As the great American patriot Patrick Henry wrote on June 12, 1776, “It is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity towards each other.”

Adams and our founders expected America’s citizens to act like Christians, to be respectful of their fellow citizens and to love others as much as they loved themselves. At its roots America is still today what it was then at its founding: an Anglo-Protestant-Christian culture which welcomes all other cultures and religions.

From its inception America honored and showed reverence and respect for human life, liberty and individual rights. Today our founders would be horrified to see how abortion clinics financially profit from destroying the bodies and souls of unborn babies. At the same time, these clinics and their staffs trample under foot these unborn children’s constitutional rights, while their morally compromised and blind political elite supporters treat these human rights breaches and slaughter of innocents with dry detachment and crass indifference.

The Declaration of Independence maintains that human life is precious and should be preserved at all costs. If American society fails to protect human life within the sanctity and security of a mother’s womb, can we reasonably expect society to protect human life when an adult walks down a city street?

Over the years America’s foundation has shifted and our western civilization is now in danger of sliding off of the rocks of its Anglo-Protestant-Christian base, and abortion on demand has become a referendum on the American way of life. Why do we gleefully clasp to our bosoms the mass destruction of defenseless human beings and not shrink from the horror of what we are doing or condoning?

Not to speak of abortion and the terror and suffering it causes to unborn babies who are trapped and hunted down within their mothers’ wombs by cold, uncaring steel surgical instruments shows how far from God’s grace and our founders’ way of life American society and civilization has fallen. That’s why we can abort living human beings with the same disregard and lack of concern that a hunter shows when removing the body of a dead rabbit from a snare.

And so the cycle continues: we kill our unborn babies which reduces the nation’s population, and then we encourage increased immigration -- legal and illegal -- because we need more population, more workers. At the same time Americans travel overseas to adopt foreign born babies because there are not enough American born babies available for adoption. Does this make sense to anyone? It doesn’t to me, and it shouldn’t to you.

Rather, it is an offense against both God and man. Because of our embrace of abortion on demand a dirty, evil, mind-bending fog-like film has coagulated and settled down over the nation. And we are all disgraced by the cruelty of our abortion policies and the wickedness of our sins. We need to confess and repent of the national sin of abortion and beg forgiveness from Almighty God, if forgiveness is still possible, for willingly participating in such a great evil.

Our founders believed that they were creating an America within which its citizens would hold human life precious, and that they would govern themselves in accordance with Biblical law and with the Christian forbearance that President Adams wrote about. It is time we returned to our founders’ Anglo-Protestant-Christian roots and wiped abortion clean from the face and conscience of America.
