Time to Clear the Air

The events of the last few weeks, as acted out on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House and Senate, are an abomination to all Americans – including those who voted for President Obama. Our Founding Fathers must be writhing in their graves at this unholy spectacle. As the Obama-Care travesty played itself out, it became obvious that the nation needs a “Third Party” – a conservative third party. Traditionally, the Republican Party has fought for the nation’s conservative interests, but no more.

For the last ten years Republicans have been AWOL while the size of government has increased; the federal government has confiscated more and more of the private sector; taxes have increased; private ownership and the free enterprise system have been perverted; debt has spiraled out of control to such an extent that the nation has become insolvent; unsavory men and women with dubious intentions have been recruited and turned loose to run – some say to collapse and destroy – the federal government.

They have glibly and gleefully trashed America’s Constitution; our school systems the effectiveness of local governments have been abrogated; the sanctity of parenthood and the American family has been violated; we have a President who claims that for spiritual inspiration and enlightenment our citizens should look to foreign philosophies and religions that were not present at, and had nothing to do with, America’s founding.

What we feared has suddenly come upon us; the worst that could have happened has happened. President Obama and his too easily corrupted Congress have driven our nation down a steep and slippery road where our Founders would never have taken us and which leads to ruin and destruction. Our nationally elected representatives of both the House and Senate have displayed a disgusting lack of wisdom, moral strength, concern for America’s general welfare, and the intestinal fortitude necessary to stop this calamity from turning into a runaway disaster.

A Conservative Third Party (CTP) could enter the political arena by participating in local or district wide races such as one for mayor or school board, county board of supervisors, or state legislators. If a state, county or district has a Republican Candidate running for office who respects America’s heritage and its traditional founding principles, and is running for office against a Democrat who is an Obama liberal, the CTP could support the Republican Candidate.

Should the Republican Candidate espouse liberal principles and values, and the Democrat turns out to support true conservative principles, the CTP could support the Democrat candidate. If neither the Republican nor the Democrat Candidate is a conservative, the CTP may want to recruit and run its own candidate in opposition to both the Republican and the Democrat candidates.

It may be historically true that the nation has never had a successful third party at the national level, but never has the nation been in such dire need of one! Ross Perot started out like a house afire, but lacked staying power and the ability to “close” the sale with the American people. Probably the most successful Third Party effort was mounted by Teddy Roosevelt and his “Bull Moose Party.” We must be prepared and determined to stay the course, and we must stay the course because there is far too much at stake. Our precious nation and the future of our grandchildren hang in the balance. Standing idly by while Obama drives the train over the cliff into an ocean of feckless despair is not an acceptable option!

Against this background our nation has never had a more divisive and dishonest Administration. Obama looks straight into the TV camera and tells the America people that C-Span cameras will have full access to the internal Obama-care deliberations. The next day the debates began behind closed doors. He tells the public that the Obama-care bill will be posted for a minimum of five days so the public will have ample opportunity to read the mammoth 3000 page perversion. They get only thirty-six hours.

To be successful, the CTP will have to look for unique opportunities where it can make a significant difference, such as helping in races like the Scott Brown campaign in Massachusetts. Eventually the CTP may want to routinely field candidates at all levels of government in all 50 states.

Fortunately it isn’t necessary to hold a majority in either the House or Senate to be a power player. Right now if the Conservative Party USA had held only three seats in the Senate and ten or so in the House, it would have been able to thwart Obama’s grab for dictatorial power.

Forming a Third Party is a momentous step, but the events of the last weeks mandate that such an effort be made. We are at a crossroads of historical and moral significance. The destiny of America hangs in the balance. The time is now for conscious-driven Americans to suit up, show up, and volunteer for hazardous duty.
